Hello again, my fellow bookworms, one last time this summer! With July in our rearview mirror, we’re looking ahead to our very last week of camp in 2021 from August 2 to 6. Week 4 is dedicated to our older campers, many of whom are long-time camp veterans, and we’ve prepared an incredible lineup of stories across genre, setting, and style to ensure our summer leaves off on a high note.

Friday, July 30 – Echo Mountain
Today was the perfect way to end camp! As the campers began to settle in this morning, there was a fun puzzle and poll. Today’s book, Echo Mountain by Lauren Wolk, is a perfect historical novel set in the woods and wrapped around nature.

Today was a mysteriously fun day at camp! The campers began the day with the usual folder filled with information about today’s guest, Ally Carter, the author of Winterborne Home for Vengeance and Valor and many other titles, along with a puzzle and some writing and drawing activities to pass the time until all of the campers had entered the Zoom room.

We started the morning by playing some super fun games. To get to know a little bit more about the camper’s opinions on our book of the day, The Anti-Book by Raphael Simon, we posed a few poll questions. We discovered that most campers found the style of the book totally unique, Felicity the flyhouse was the favorite character (though she faced some competition from Alice and Mickey), and our campers aren’t quite sure if they’d use the Anti-Book if it came into their possession. Finally, we asked one non-book-related question and found that an overwhelming majority of campers think that cookies need to be crunchy AND chewy!
