Tuesday, July 13 – Swimming with Dolphins

Welcome back! Today’s morning activities took direct inspiration from our featured book, Swimming with Dolphins. KT, the heroine of today’s book, uses a wheelchair, which she nicknames “Sprinkle.” She also names the family van “Beluga.” So we started the day with a scavenger hunt where we each had to find an object we use daily. Once in hand, we had to think about what it does for us and how we feel about it. Finally, we had to try to come up with an appropriate name for it. We ended up with some fun and surprising results: a pencil named “Emoji,” a face mask (so timely!) named “Rose,” a TV remote named “Wand,” and counselors’ cars named “Jill” and “Tucker,” among many others.
